Here are some important facts to remember about how gifts and approval work in Origins. Luckily, plot-relevant gifts are impossible to give to the wrong person the wrong companion would refuse the gift. However, not all of them are easy to find. For those that play Dragon Age: Origins for the story and most do , these gifts should be a priority. Not all characters have plot-relevant gifts, but those that do will share more about themselves with the Warden.
Here are all the locations for the plot-relevant gifts:. The room is hidden behind a bookcase. Andraste's Grace: This gift can actually be found at three different locations. The first location is in Redcliffe by the Windmill. The second is in the West Brecilian Forest.
The third is in the Alienage of Denerim. Leliana will treat the first Andraste's Grace like a plot-relevant gift and the other two as just preferred gifts. He can be paid a varied amount of money based on the player choosing to haggle or threaten him.
It can be found in Irving's chest. Player has to get the key by defeating Flemeth in combat. Antivan Leather Boots: Found in a locked chest in the store at Haven. Sten's Sword: Obtained by completing Sten's companion quest. To start the quest, his approval must be at least at 25 points. Then, confront a scavenger at the Lake Calenhad Docks. Alistair has gift tastes many players wouldn't quite expect from him. While there, players can go to the Senior Mage Quarters on the second level and find a charred corpse.
By looting the body, they'll find another portrait. This one is slightly water-stained and features a man wearing furs and a crown. Most people don't tend to steal their presents from corpses.
Yet, Sten still enjoys the dead person's painting. The Deep Roads are mostly known for containing an incredible amount of Darkspawn. But in Origins , they also house a nice gift for Sten.
Players can find it in the Caridin's Cross area inside a chest. It's near where you fight some genlocks, beside a Ballista. Surprisingly, the present isn't a painting for once, proving that Sten has varied tastes. Although, the present could still be regarded as a piece of art because it's a wooden totem with the shapes of monsters carved into it. It's unclear if the item does anything magical, yet it helps grow the bond between the Warden and his Qunari ally.
And what more could anyone want? Obtaining Sten's sword takes a lot more work than acquiring the other gifts. For starters, his approval level needs to be at least 25, which can be achieved by fetching three of the other presents. Doing so will trigger a conversation with the Qunari, where he explains the importance of the weapon and how he lost it. Then players can begin their companion quest to retrieve the blade.
Sounds easy, but it ends up being a goose chase as the Warden and Sten try to track the thing down. Eventually, it's found in a chest at Dwyn's house in Redcliffe Village. The Qunari are a mysterious group thus why fan theories seem to abound about them , but thankfully one doesn't need to visit Par Vollen to get ahold of the Remarkable Amethyst.
It's sold in Orzammar, by a dwarf named Alimar in Dust Town. One might be grateful that a stick-in-the-mud like Shale didn't make it around to seeing all of the purely humorous quests in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Still, her disposition does lighten up a bit when she gets a Remarkable Diamond. Players can find this gift sold by Garin, the merchant in the Orzammar Commons, just outside of the Diamond Quarter.
Shale's been around for unfathomable amounts of time, so when the Grey Wardens are meeting characters that match their zodiac signs , she likely precedes the era when the zodiac was even a concept. That might look like she is an outsider to the rest of the cast, but a Remarkable Emerald will make her feel right at home. Find one being sold by Figor, who owns a shop in the Orzammar Commons. The Tevinter Imperium might be a thing of the past, but gamers will have to wait until Dragon Age 4 before all of their secrets are uncovered.
This empire once possessed untold treasures and magical instruments. Thankfully, they weren't able to bury Shale's Remarkable Topaz in time. It's being sold by Faryn, a human merchant and looter just outside of the gates to Orzammar. It's too bad Shale didn't get to meet the Dread Wolf. She'd have seen right through his trickery and would have been able to add on to the pile of hilarious memes about him.
She's probably just enjoying her Remarkable Greenstone. Though the stone is next to Shale in the village of Honnleath, it's not easy to obtain. A shade has the gem and it has to be killed and looted. One might be looking for traces of Shale in Tevinter Nights to see what that will mean for the next Dragon Age game.
Whether or not Shale is present in the future of the series remains to be seen, but wherever she is, she's happy with her Remarkable Malachite.
