What is the difference between education and qualification

Education is the tool that takes a man from darkness to light, from ignorance to knowledge, and from poverty and backwardness to a life that is desirable and worth living. However, in the modern world, there is another concept of qualification that confuses many as mere education seems to be insufficient these days.

There are many differences between education and qualification despite similarities that will be highlighted in this article. For all practical purposes, education is the formal system of schooling in place in a country where the students get knowledge in different subjects taught to them by qualified teachers according to a set curriculum.

There have come to light many such instances where the degrees and certificates are sold for money. Several fake certificate rackets have been unearthed by the police. We know the universities giving even Phd degrees and other graduate and postgraduate degrees without the actual course of study.

The so called students of these universities appear in the examination without going to the colleges. They are helped with books and other materials to copy the answers in the examination halls. They become qualified graduates or postgraduates. Can you call these persons educated?

Being qualified and being educated is a totally different matter. We can be satisfied with whatever higher education we have pursued.

This process of learning called education is continuous and perennial. Acquiring degree in a particular field is a different issue. But, when it comes to "knowledge", it doesn't always rely on higher studies or education. There is no end for acquiring "knowledge" as the sphere of knowledge is very vast.
