Which hearthfire property is best

Of course, just like looking for a home in real life, players need to weigh the pros and cons of each Skyrim house, including price, location, and amenities.

While it's nice to simply have somewhere to call home between Skyrim 's many quests , there are practical benefits to each location, such as storage space, crafting materials, and more. Because of the required investment, buying without a little pre-planning can be risky, so here's a brief guide to Skyrim 's best houses to buy.

Located in Riften, Honeyside is a modest home for a modest price, but it comes with a lot of benefits. It has a personal balcony, an alchemy table, a cooking pot, and a tanning rack. Honeyside is one of only two Skyrim player homes with an external portion considered part of the wider open world, rather than part of Riften itself, meaning the balcony can be used to escape bounties in the city.

The house's garden produces alchemy ingredients and food, as do the two fish barrels on the porch, and Honeyside even has a thief cache barrel for members of Skyrim's Thieves Guild.

Its aesthetically pleasing, wood cabin look doesn't hurt, either. Hjerim in Windhelm isn't the cheapest house in Skyrim , but it's well located, has lots of storage space including a large armory , and comes complete with an enchanting table and alchemy table. Players were initially very excited when these houses were introduced within the Hearthfire DLC, but it can be difficult to pick which one the Dragonborn should buy first. All of these houses are prime spots for taking off your gorgeous armor and settling down!

The following information will be a buyer's guide to each house and will explain both the terrain surrounding each homestead, as well as any unique features that they may have. The Hearthfire houses are great, especially considering that each Hearthfire house has a unique feature that players can build to obtain a specific type of material or special item.

Updated July 23, by Gabrielle Huston: Skyrim's tenth anniversary has encouraged many players to revisit this old title. Despite its age, there are games on the market that just can't compete with Skyrim.

This article has been updated to detail some of the advantages to building your home in one place or another, give each house a section all to itself, and highlight the unique feature of each location. Whether you choose to expand a Hearthfire house with mods or not, you have to fall in love with the location you've picked in order to truly make it home. Heljarchen Hall is extremely close to Whiterun, being just a few minutes walk or horse ride from this massive and popular city.

Many players enjoy playing without fast travel, and having Whiterun so close to the player's house can be a very beneficial trait. The terrain around Heljarchen Hall is a combination of both Whiterun hold and the Pale, making for a snowy grassland exterior. The fact that this house is so close to one of the biggest cities in the game and that the terrain surrounding it is so distinct and diverse makes for one of the best reasons to choose this as the player's home. This land is one of the best places to hang the player's sword!

Since it's so close to Whiterun, it's also a bit easier to build than the others. No long loading screens are necessary when you run into town for supplies like glass or hay - you can just pop over to Whiterun and talk to the local blacksmith or general store owner. Not to mention that the building process is made much easier by the proximity of this house's carpenter's workbench to clay and quarried stone deposits. Heljarchen Hall has a grain mill that can convert wheat into abundant amounts of flour, which will be especially useful for players that like to cook all the new recipes that Hearthfire adds to the game.

Flour is essential for many different recipes in Skyrim, and players will be able to gain a lot of it simply by using their own grain mill. This feature is completely unique to Heljarchen Hall, and as such, players will enjoy using this quite a bit if they are trained in the culinary arts.

After living there for a while, I decided that although it had a gorgeous view, there were too many attacks almost every time I came home! So I spent time scoping out my Dawnstar and Morthal homes and decided that Windstad Manor is the best place for a family.

I've lived there for a while now and haven't had any attacks yet! Informative x 1. JClarke Well-Known Member. Thorn In the Hist we trust.

I went for the manor in the Pale, something about the scenery really hooked me, but to be fair, that was the first one that was offered to me and I have thought about moving to Hjaalmarch. Naginata Huntress of the Shadows. My favorite plot of land is the one sold to you either in Dawnstar or from Morthal.

Both are so amazing and have wonderful views. I personally dislike the one sold from Falkreath because despite the fact it is in a pretty forest, it's kinda I think Dawnstar's land plot is my total favorite. The view is to die for. The Morthal land plot is right next to a marsh, so keep that in mind. CognitiveCog Puppetmaster. I agree, the sunrises and sunsets over the mountians in Windstad Dawnstar are amazing.

At first I thought Lakeview Falkreath was the best view and built the wrap-around deck there just for the view. Unfortunately, you can barely see the lake from the house unless you build a tower. Between the awesome skyscapes and the view of Solitude, you can't go wrong with Windstad. DestroyerDevourMaster "Zu'u Alduin. Zok sahrot do naan ko Lein!
